Not about that island life-

But totally down with this place.
After not knowing what to expect from someplace really into their wild ponies, I was pleasantly surprised with going to Chincoteague. According to the information I googled before hand, it was called Chesapeake at one point. Now a small island town with not one bar in sight, it was a cute place for an overnight mini-vacation. It seemed like an older version of Port Jefferson on long island. My family used to take me and my sister there a lot when we were kids,

When we first got there, I got a grand tour from my roommate's parents, who had been coming there for years and knew a lot about the place. Besides a boat, there seemed to be one drawbridge on and off the island, the view was cute and quiet. Like someplace you'd see in a movie made by someone who had only read about a small Virginia island town.Although I couldn't figure out where on earth the locals go, my roommate and I explored the island. She brought me to Sundial bookstore, a cute, slightly slanted, two story bookstore that might as well have been on the docks. It was pretty cool to see, rows and rows of books and the ocean outside of the window. It was a small place that even had a section for comics and locally made jewelry.
The beach itself was pretty, not crowded this early in the season. It was clean, and although disappointingly devoid of any ponies, a beautiful sight.
I couldn't talk about this trip without mentioning the seafood. We went to eat at Ray's Shanty, I know it was on an island, and it's really to be expected. I had a fair warning, and still I was impressed and pleased at how delicious everything was! I was told it was because it was never frozen, and all caught locally. Whatever their doing, it was likely the best shrimp I ever ate

For this trip, I decided to lighten it up a bit from my usual black on black, to gray on white. Never did I think I'd wear these shorts, as they were a spontaneous purchase and may very well be the only gray thing I've bought in years. To match the structured look of the shorts, I wore a lace-back, sleeveless white button down, and gray cardigan to keep my warm in the morning. Birks borrowed from my roommate for a laid back beach look. First one of the season! Next one will mostly be in two weeks, when I crawl back to my black drapes I pretend are clothing.
